In this talk we will introduce a non-probabilistic theory for the harmonic
analysis of power signals, which will highlight some key differences
with respect to the similar and better investigated harmonic analyis
of energy signals. For instance, we will prove that the bandwidth of the
power spectrum of a signal does not always coincide with the bandwidth
of the Fourier transform of the same signal. Among other topics we will
cover: the sampling of power signals and the effects of frequency sampling
on the spectra of these signals, the study of some algorithms for the
numerical computation of power spectra, and an analyis of the errors
introduced by such algorithms in the spectral estimates that they
generate.
