Degree in Applied Matematics
Course not running
The Bachelor's degree course, in Italian "laurea triennale",
in Applied Mathematics
belongs to class nr. 32 "Mathematical Sciences".
It is an inter-faculty course involving the Faculty of Mathematical,
Physical and Natural Sciences
(the main course chair) and the Faculty of Economics of the University
of Verona.
Students may choose between an economics-financial
curriculum and a modellistic-computational one, devoted
to applications, such as mathematical models for biological sciences or
fluid dynamics.
During the course, special seminars
are given to help the student to choose the curriculum.
Students can then naturally have access to the second
level degree course, in Italian
"laurea specialistica", in
Quantitative Methods for Finance,
offered by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Verona,
or a second level degree course in
Mathematics in other universities. Moreover,
a second level degree course in Mathematics, currently in the
planning stage, is expected to be activated at
the University of Verona in the academic year 2009/2010.
The Bachelors in Applied Mathematics can be employed in banking and
financial institutions, insurance companies and research
departments of companies and industries.
Students can apply for scholarships (specifically devoted to
class nr. 32) to the INdAM (Istituto Nazionale di
Alta Matematica "Francesco Severi").

Moreover, the course fees due by students with a
sufficiently regular academic career are partially refunded.
A further selection, on the basis of merit, can be applied if the available
funds are not enough.
